This sharp jump in railway freight tariffs is driven by several factors:

• Demand exceeding capacity: Steady demand for Chinese goods in the European market exceeds available railway capacity.

• Maritime logistics issues: Unpredictable delivery times in sea freight force many cargo owners to prefer rail as a faster alternative, further increasing pressure on railway hubs.
